OFW escapes death row

OFW convict, Rogelio Lanuza, has been saved from death row after the killed Saudi national victim’s family accepted blood money.

Headed by former Ambassador Antonio Villamor, the reconciliation team was able to persuade the family to accept the blood money from Lanuza’s party.

Lanuza was sentenced to death by the Saudi Arabia’s high court in 2011 for killing a Saudi national in August 2010.

According to Migrante Middle East, a group is committed to ‘Save OFWs on Death Row’ campaigns, there are still eight Filipinos on death row in Saudi Arabia. This group continues to make moves in order to save their kababayans’ lives.
